Over Rs. 5 lakhs worth cinnamon stolen

A cinnamon purchasing centre at Ginnaliya road in Urubokka was burgled at night by a gang of robbers and 29 bundles of cinnamon valued Rs. 393,000 stolen according to Urubokka police.

Investigations revealed that the robbers entered the trade centre breaking the doors and padlocks. No arrests have been made. Urubokka Police is investigating.

Another local Production purchasing centre at Hakmana road Matara had also been burgled and a consignment of cinnamon valued Rs. 140,000 robbed according to the complaint made by the owner of the centre to the police.

Matara Police is investigating.
