Contempt of Court charges against Prima Company
Violation of enjoining order:

Colombo District Court yesterday served charges of contempt of Court
to Sunil Lihiniyagoda a Director of Prima Ceylon Ltd for violating the
enjoining order issued by the Colombo District Judge Sisira Ratnayake on
September 16 that restrained the said company from acting as sponsor of
Under 15 Sri Lanka School Cricket District Tournament.
The Court extended the enjoining order restraining Sri Lanka Schools
Cricket Association from permitting Prima Ceylon Limited and Prima
Ceylon Agro Industries Limited to sponsor the under 15 District School
Cricket Tournament until October 13.
Although the Court had issued notices on all the seven directors of
the Prima Ceylon Limited only Sunil Lihiniyagoda appeared before the
Court and he pleaded not guilty. S. Sivarasa PC appearing for
Lihiniyagoda stated that the charge did not consist of the offence he
committed.
Harsha Cabral PC submitted that the other directors had not been
issued notices as they were residents of Singapore. The matter of
contempt of Court will be taken before the Court on November 18. The
Court on September 16 issued a restraining order on Asoka Senani Hewage,
Udaya Kumara Premathilake, Dishan Priyantha de Silva President, Vice
President and Secretary of Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association after
Mascon Pvt Ltd filed a plaint claiming to permit the Prima Companies to
sponsor the matches was in breach of rights of the plaintiff in relation
to title sponsorship rights and sponsorship rights obtained through the
memorandum of understanding with the Sri Lanka Schools Cricket
Association on August 06 , 2008. |
