FCCISL's BPI wins Asian Brand Excellence Awards

Federation of Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCISL) Business for Peace Initiative (BPI) was judged the Best Social Marketing Project at the recently held Brand Excellence Awards of the Asian Brand Congress.

On behalf of FCCISL, it's President Kosala Wickramanayake and Secretary General/CEO Samantha Abeywickrama received the award at the hotel Taj Lands End in Mumbai.

Business for Peace Initiative (BPI) was launched by the FCCISL back in March

2006 with the vision of harnessing support of business community for the cause of peace building in Sri Lanka. All regional chambers of commerce from the Northern and Eastern provinces and bordering districts joined with the FCCISL as implementation partners of the initiative.

"We are extremely happy and honoured to receive this award for our efforts in marketing peace through business community. We would like to share this award with the regional chambers as they played a critical role in implementing this project. I also would like to mention especially the close working relationship we had with the Secretariat of Coordinating the Peace Process in Sri Lanka (SCOPP) and the Commissioner General of Essential Services (CGES)."

FCCISL President Wickramanayake said that this is the second time one of FCCISL's projects received such international recognition. "The first was for our efforts in rehabilitating tsunami-devastated businesses, post tsunami 2004 and now for the business for peace initiative (BPI). The fact that we won this excellence award for marketing peace, I hope will be given due recognition especially by the business/corporate community and I urge them to join hands with FCCISL for the continuation of this project".
