LECO makes electricity meters

For the first time in Sri Lanka, with Chinese collaboration, Ante
Leco Metering Company will be manufacturing electricity meters in Sri
Lanka.
The company will be investing over Rs. 100 million and will be
opening the factory on October 5 at Bandaragama for this purpose. Chief
Internal Auditor of LECO, V. Kandasamy said they will be manufacturing
around 600 units a month and the production will increase by the end of
the year.
The company is formed with an equity capital of 70 per cent by LECO,
and 30 per cent by the technology partner of which 20 per cent is by way
of technology and 10 per cent by way of equity.
This hi-tech factory will manufacture high precision state-of-the-art
testing energy meters and calibration equipment. This energy meter
calibration equipment are of international standard. Technicians
assisted by computers control the production process.
“The testing and calibration is carried out in accordance with ISO
17025 standards of which awaits accreditation,” he said.
The annual local demand is 100,000 meters per month. “We will be
first meeting the local demand and will soon export meters to the SARRC
region,” he said. LECO was incorporated in 1983 with the objective to
carrying out the sale of electrical energy. |
