Army Commander reviews security in Yala

Army Commander Lieutenant General Sarath Fonseka accompanied by senior officers flew to Yala on Saturday to review the security in the area, a Army media unit said.

Commander, Area Headquarters Hambantota, Colonel Devinda Perera received the Army Commander.

Arrangements to ensure security in the area and adjoining villages were discussed at length during the meeting at the Area Headquarters auditorium, it said.

Army senior officers and the Police including senior DIG, D.W. Prathapasinghe attended the meeting.

Lieutenant General Sarath Fonseka gave instructions on future security arrangements before returning to Colombo the same day, it said.
