Two LTTE suspects taken in

Two LTTE suspects were taken into custody by the Police Intelligence Unit along with C4 explosives, detonators and other peripherals.

These suspects are said to be brothers in-law of a LTTE mastermind “Kanna’ who killed and injured Navy presonnel at Digampathana, Seegiriya by launching a suicide attack. According to investigations the two suspects revealed that Kanna alias Muththusami Raj Kumar has personally coordinated the suicide attack on the Navy convoy.

In addition Kanna has been directly involved in several other explosions in the Matale and Kandy districts.

Explosives which were used for the Digampathana attack were transported to Matale from Kilinochchi by lorry which transports fish. Investigations revealed that the explosives were hidden in in Matale and a part of it was used for the Digampathana suicide attack. Another two LTTE caders Kapil Amman and Muhundan had assisted Kanna.

The two suspects are being questioned by a special police team and further investigations are being carried out.
