Gama Neguma, most effective village development project - Highways Minister

Highways Minister T.B. Ekanayake has funded Rs. 500,000 to reconstruct a rural road in Kurunegala, Mavidalupotha which was in a dilapidated state for the last few years.

The road which had not been repaired for a long time was full of large pot-holes which turn into muddy puddles on rainy days inconveniencing both motorists and pedestrians.

Minister Ekanayaka said Gama Neguma is the most effective development programme that helps establish a well-developed village providing more facilities to the people in rural areas. He said the Government will promote indigenous products and provide infrastructure facilities to rural and low-income families.

He said the Government liberated the East from the clutches of the LTTE and won the North Central and Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council elections.

The US Government supports to block all channels that supply weapons to terrorists.

Terrorism had become a threat to most countries.

South Asian leaders recently resolved to defeat this common enemy, the Minister added.
