Senior TMVPer shot dead

A senior member of the Tamil Makkal Viduthalai Pulikal (TMVP) was shot dead and his assistant severely injured on Friday around 8.45 p.m. at Thalavai village in Eravur police division.

The police inquiry reveals the victim and his assistant were standing opposite the TMVP office in Thalavai, when they were shot by the youths plying a motorbike.

In the incident, the senior member of the TMVP, P. Udayan (26) alias Karunanithi died on the spot, while his assistant Krishnan-Raju (23) was injured.

He has been admitted at Batticaloa teaching hospital for treatment, police said.
