Habaraduwa hospital to get a new life from Pears
The refurbished maternity and paediatric wards of the District
Hospital at Habaraduwa undertaken by the Pears Safe Hands Fund will be
formally handed over as a gift to the people of Habaraduwa by Unilevers
Sri Lanka on 20th September 2008.
What is unique about this project is that it has been supported by
the contribution received from every consumer, by diverting a sum of 25
cents from the sale proceeds of any Pears baby product towards the Pears
Safe Hands Fund which is committed to the development and improvement of
maternity and paediatric health care in the country.
Pears Brand Manager Ms. Nilushi Jayatileke, states that anyone who
has purchased a Pears product, indirectly contributes to the Pears Safe
Hands Fund.
“In truth, every customer of a Pears product whether they are aware
or not, have contributed to this initiative. We are only the channel.
Ultimately all recognition and credit should go to the customer. In a
way this is a method of the community creating a sense of belonging to
this very deserving project.”
This project also identifies with the objectives of the Government of
Sri Lanka and its intention to upgrade rural hospitals as a matter of
priority.
The contribution made by the Pears Safe Hands Fund towards upgrading
maternity and paediatric wards of 12 hospitals across the country now
exceeds Rs.21 million. |
