The book titled "Aseniya Kusum" the Wimal Abhayasundera Felicitation
Book published to commemorate his 87th birthday is to state briefly the
immeasurable services rendered for the Sinhala language by gifting no
less than 30 books for the Sinhalese language by Kalakeerthi Pandit
Wimal Abhayasundera by way of poems, lyrics, songs, narrations and
criticism for a period of nearly seventy years.
 This book contains about 800 pages and is compiled by Rev. Ahungalle
Vimalajeeva Tissa Thera and Pulasti Abhayasundera, which has been
printed and published by Desha Bandu Sisisumana Godage.
This book is compiled on a new pattern veering away from the
traditional nature embraced in compiling books of felicitations. It
states briefly the various sections of the character of the author and
some of the extracts quoted from the books written by him and also parts
extracted from the responses received by the learned, erudite and
distinguished society of readers of those books.
A number of especial articles supplied by Heads of Pirivenas,
Lecturers of Universities, Doctors, Professors, Chancellors and Vice
Chancellors and reputed critics of arts and others are included in this
Felicitation Magazine.
Complimentary wishes of the All Ceylon Sinhalese Poets' Association,
Hela Haula, Young Poets' Association of the Capital Literature Union of
Welithota, etc. are also included in this compilation of writings.
The Editors offer their gratitude to all the writers, poets and
poetesses who furnished essays of verses and proses for this
Felicitation Book with and without invitation, by hearing the news
itself.
From the large number of essays supplied especially by poets and
poetesses, it reflects their unlimited respect, and regard they are
having towards this great poet.
It has been stated that this poet was seen by the poets and poetesses
of the third generation in Colombo era as a teacher.
