Exhibition of oil paintings

Asanga has won numerous awards at inter-school competitions during his student days. The most salient feature in his paintings is the colour combination that he employs.

Artist Asanga Padmal Nelundeniya, a veteran in the field with 17 years of experience behind him is busy preparing now for his maiden art exhibition. From his early school days, young Asanga showed signs of immense talent.

He studied up to G.C.E. Ordinary Level at Paththalagedara Affiliated School and moved to Sangabodhi Central College, Nittambuwa for his Advanced Level education.

Asanga honed his skills under the tutelage of the late art teacher of Veyangoda Maha Vidyalaya late Mr. N. P. Karunarathna. Former principal of Veyangoda MV Mr. Nimal Rajapaksha too helped on fine tuning the talents of Asanga with whom he did the temple paintings of the famous Ballapana Viharaya, Galigamuwa.

Asanga has won numerous awards at inter-school competitions during his student days. The most salient feature in his paintings is the colour combination that he employs which he has developed to an admirable level during a career spanning 17 years. He is also a much sought after artist in designing banners and other art works. Asanga is also in much demand during the Vesak season for “Thorana” paintings. Though versatility is his forte, his speciality is oil paintings.

The maiden art exhibition of Asanga Padmal Nelundeniya will be held at Lionel Wendt Art Gallery from 19th to 21st September, 2008 (19th 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.) (20th & 21st 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.)

Art loving public should extend their best wishes and good luck to the inaugural art exhibition of Asanga.
