Explosives, detonators found near water purification centre

Police recovered 100 grams of C-4 explosives and several detonators close to the Dehiwela water purification centre on Saturday. According to sources the intended target might have been supply lines providing water to Dehiwela and Mount Lavinia. To

Residents said they had heard a minor explosion in the vicinity on Friday night which they attributed to a defect at a nearby transformer. However, on Saturday two employees of the Water Board had found the explosives and detonators and subsequently had alerted police. Police are investigating.
