Ballack misses Liechtenstein game

Germany captain Michael Ballack will miss Saturday's World Cup qualifier against Liechtenstein through injury but could be back in time to face Finland next Wednesday.

The German Football Association (DFB) said in a statement on Tuesday that Ballack would continue to receive treatment on his left foot injury until the squad leave for Vaduz on Friday. A decision will then be taken on whether the Chelsea player stands a chance of making it for the second of the two Group Four qualifiers in Helsinki on Sept. 10.
