The anti-LTTE demonstration at Sergels Torg, in the heart of city of
Stockholm, on Sunday by Sri Lankans in Sweden was the fifth in the
Nordic region and the third to be held in Stockholm aimed to display the
activities by the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE).
A large number of Sri Lankans living in Sweden and Swedish nationals
took part in the public protest and expressed their growing discontent
with the LTTE extortion.
They drafted a letter to be presented to Swedish Prime Minister
Fredrik Reinfeldt, who will be the future President of the European
Union, requesting to take action to stop ransom collections by the Tamil
Rehabilitation Organisation, money laundering, intimidation and
harassment of Tamils and Sinhala civilians.
The protest envisaged brutal terrorist activities taking place in Sri
Lanka and appealed to the donors to be cautious on their charities
disbursed through established front organisations that finance LTTE
terrorist activities.
