Police indentifies 15 LTTE suspects involved in terrorist attacks in
Kandy

Fifteen LTTE terrorist suspects out of a total of 41 who were
arrested in connection with various terrorist activities in Kandy and
suburbs in the hill country have been identified as those who had
returned to their former hide-outs after the ceasefire agrement was
signed, by the police intelligence.
41 LTTE suspects apprehended from the hill country on various
terrorist acts are being interrogated under detention custody.
Police intelligence has further established that a large number of
Tamil youths from Digana, Ambakotewatte, Galaha and Rathtota who had
gone to Kelinochchi and Mullativu had joined the LTTE. A substantial
numbers of them have later reterned to the hill country.
Those LTTEers who are in the police custody are suspected to be
involved in the large-scale terrorist acts such as assassination of DIG/STF,
Upul Seneviratne, attempted assassinations of Minister Keheliya
Rambukwella and Douglas Devananda, has bomb explosions at Dambulla and
Polgolla, blast of transformers in the hill country, the police
investigation have revaled. |
