programme in Kataragama

The annual Pooja organised by the Mahajana Eksath Peramuna (MEP) will be held at the Kataragama Kirivehara Chaitya on August 30 at 5.00 p.m.

This annual pooja has been organised by MEP for the year 14th consecutive year to invoke the blessings of the God Kataragama to protect the territorial integrity, and to strengthen and encourage the soldiers to protect the motherland.

Meanwhile an Ashirwada pooja to mark the 50th year of the introduction of Paddy Land Act will be held at Thissamaharama Rajamaha Viharaya on August 31 at 5.00 p.m.

Lecture

The General Dental Practitioners' Association will conduct a lecture demonstration on Implants by Prof. Asoka Ameratunga of the Faculty of Dental Sciences, University of Peradeniya, on September 5 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the S.L.D.A. Auditorium, O.P.A, Stanley Wijesundera Mawatha, Colombo 3.

AGM

The 88th annual general meeting of the Ceylon Estate Workers' Union will be held on Saturday 30, at the Colombo new town hall. The Ceylon Planters' Association General Secretary Malini Gunatilleke will be the chief guest.

Several trade unionists including the Ceylon Mercantile & Industrial Workers' Union Chief Bala Tampoe are also due to participate at the event.

Art of right living

The Chinmaya Mission of Sri Lanka will organise a 5 day lecture series on "Art of Right Living" by Brahmachari Darshan Chaitanya from August 26 to August 30 between 6.30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Kathiresan Hall - 2, Colombo 4.

Book launch

'Letter from Ingy', a collection of poems by Nalini Jayasuriya will be launched on Friday, 29th August 2008 at 6.00 p.m. at The Indian Cultural Centre, 133 Bauddhaloka MW, Col. 4.

RASSL Monthly Lecture Series

The monthly lecture of the Royal Asiatic Society of Sri Lanka will be held at 5.00 p.m. on August 25, at the Gamini Dissanayake Auditorium of the Mahaweli Centre, No. 96, Ananda Coomaraswamy Mawatha, Colombo 7.

The title of the lecture is "Pre Colonial Legal Systems of Sri Lanka" presented by Preeni S. Witharanage.
