Rattota Police are probing an incident where the Rattota Pradeshiya Sabha Opposition Leader is alleged to have attempted to sexually abuse a nurse attached to the Rattota Hospital recently.

The victim was on her way home when the suspect travelling in a vehicle attempted to commit the offence at a lonely spot, Police said.

The suspect is reported to be absconding after the incident.

Matale SP Maccarthy Perera said further investigations will be conducted.

Rattota Hospital staff have launched a protest campaign into this incident, sources said.
