Rs. 4 m for road repair work in estates

The Youth Empowerment and Socio Economic Development Ministry has allocated Rs. 4 million to develop roads in the estate sector for the betterment of the upcountry community in the Ratnapura district on the instructions of Minister Arumugan Thondaman.

The Minister recently visited the area and held discussions with the Divisional Secretaries and received first-hand knowledge of the hardships the estate community undergo due to bad road conditions.

The funds will be allocated to the following road development schemes: Kambediya road development in the Hemingford estate, Bovily Lower Division, Pussella Estate Meegadeniya division, St. Jokim Estate Road Development, Hapugaskande Mukku Watta Road, and Hapugaskande Bk, division.
