Colombo Region I wins Holcim Cup
The Football Federation of Sri Lanka organised Inter Regional Under
17 tournament for the Holcim Cup was held recently at the Obeysekerapura
Park, Rajagiriya. The tourney was participated by 16 teams for which 32
matches were played.
In the final Colombo I defeated Negombo Region one goal to nil. With
Mohamed Riwan Saleem scoring the only goal for the winners. Saleem was
also awarded the Most Valuable Player award for his brilliant
performance in the finals.
Meanwhile Sujan Perera of Kalutara Region was declared as the Best
Goal Keeper of the tournament. Kalutara Region took the third position
when they beat Colombo II four goals to nil. In the semi final Colombo I
defeated Colombo II four goals to 2, while Negombo Region beat Kalutara
Region three goals to two in a penalty shoot out as both teams failed to
score during the 90 minutes of play.
