New health facilities for Kantale hospital
A new quarter complex and medical equipment worth of Rs. 67 million
were provided to Kantale Base hospital in Trincomalee. With the opening
of the new quarter complex, doctors, para-medical staff and nurses of
the hospital now have modern quarters easing them to perform their
duties.
The project to construct quarters initiated by the Sri Lanka Red
Cross Society was funded by the Japanese Red Cross Society, a release
said.
The new complex comprises 24 units. Japanese Red Cross Society (JRC)
has spent over Rs. 250 million to construct quarters and to provide
furniture, electrical items and kitchen utensils, it said.
JRC has also provided 90 essential medical equipment to the hospital
at a cost of Rs. 67 million to improve health services to the public.
Addressing the gathering at the opening of new quarters Health and
Nutrition Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva said this was one of the best
quarter complexes with all facilities for health staff in the country.
