Renovation project at Richmond College
One of the oldest monumental buildings of Richmond College, Galle,
the 'L-block' is pleading for help. This building has been erected by
the British over 100 years ago and it has given shelter to many
Richmandites during their schooldays.
Walls of this building are now abraded all over with plaques of
cement falling down. It had not seen a new coat of paint for long years,
the skeleton of the roof, windows and the doors are dilapidating.
It is glad to note that Richmond College Union, Colombo 70-80 Group
has undertaken the responsibility of renovating this building.
The projected cost of the renovation is around Rs. 2.0 mn. A separate
fund has been established to collect donations from old boys and other
well-wishers and a fair number of old boys have already contributed to
this fund. Arrangements are under way to commence the renovation work
tomorrow at 9.30 a.m.
If you are interested in supporting this project, you may send your
contribution to the following account: Account No. 8480032910 'L-block
Renovation Fund', Commercial Bank, Union Place Branch. Old boys of
Richmond College are welcome by RCU Colombo 70-80 Group to this venue
tomorrow.
