Forged currency: Two Pakistanis further remanded

Two Pakistanis remanded in connection with possessing forged Indian
currency notes were further remanded by Colombo Fort Additional
Magistrate Kumari Abeyratne till August 27.
Ruwan Rohan Srilal of Piliyandala remanded in connection with the
same alleged offence was released on bail by the Additional Magistrate
in Rs.25,000 and a bond of Rs.400,000 with a surety.
Earlier, the three suspects were produced by Fort Police before
Colombo Fort Magistrate and Additional District Judge Namal Bandara
Balalle for possessing forged Indian notes and remanded pending
completion of the investigations.
The Fort Police submitting a comprehensive report in connection with
their investigations told court that a special police team was
investigating to ascertain whether any other persons were involved in
the forged currency note racket.
Fort Police recovered Indian forged currency to the value of over
Rs.8.3 million.
