Terrorism successfully eradicated under present Govt - Artistes

President Mahinda Rajapaksa is successfully eradicating terrorism and is about to unite the country while NGOs and all other LTTE friendly forces are trying their best to save the LTTE. The party which killed youth and the party which let youth die has signed an unofficial MoU against the Government.

All patriotic artistes have come together to strengthen the President, Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, Commanders of the three Armed Forces and war heroes, actor Senaka Wijesinghe said.

He was addressing a press briefing at the Mahaweli Centre, Colombo 7 yesterday, Wijesinghe said according to Sri Lankan history every time local and foreign forces try to destroy the country, all patriotic forces came together to save Sri Lanka.

“There is no difference among Sinhala, Tamil and Muslim communities when it came to saving the country. They are all united. In 2002 when the then Government tried to give Eelam signing an MoU, all patriotic forces came together and defeated it. Today all artistes have come forward not to campaign for elections but to save the country,” he said.

“It is time to decide whether we will allow the country to be under patriots or whether we will allow traitors to snatch the country.

“All artistes are on the side of patriots. Therefore we support to save the country from traitors,” he added.

Actor Rangana Premaratne said he supports the President and the Government not because he needs a house, land or publicity.

“Sri Lanka has come to a turning point today.

“Norway is waiting till Sri Lanka faces another tragedy. The 30 year old war killed many soldiers, civilians and destroyed millions worth properties. It is President Rajapaksa who showed the country how to eradicate terrorism. He has already rescued the Eastern Province and the North is about to be fully cleared. All should support the President at this moment,” he added.

Actor Buddhi Wickrema said so far, all who ruled Sri Lanka sacrificed lives of soldiers in thousands and after that let Prabhakaran have the country.

“What they did so far is drag the war for some time, let many soldiers get killed and then stop the war allowing Prabhakaran have his area and the International community to assist him. It is only President Rajapaksa who did not do that. Therefore all should support him,” he added.

Actor G.R. Perera said that every time Sri Lanka faced a problem, eight kings from Ruhunu Magam Rata came forward and rescued Sri Lanka. This is another such time. It is the duty of every and each Sri Lankan to protect that ninth king and the country, he added.

Actor Sandun Wijesiri said the rich Colombo seven artistes are not there to stand by the country today.

Artistes have seen how those who ruled Sri Lanka since 1948 make mistakes. Today the massive development drives launched by the Government has proved how the country is being developed. Therefore all should strengthen President Rajapaksa’s hands.”

A large number of artistes took part in the press conference.
