Govt to restore civil administration in Mannar district

The Government will restore civil administration in the Mannar district within 90 days said Public Administration and Home Affairs Minister Karu Jayasuriya. The Minister was addressing the final day of Denuwara Mithuroo programme at Hapitigama Science Faculty recently.

The Minister said schools and divisional secretariats will be opened and the health services will also be operational in the district under the first phase.

Denuwara Mithuroo programme was organised by the Education Ministry to promote mutual understanding among the students of different communities in the society

The students of Batticaloa, Akkarapattuwa, Potuvil, Walachchena, Wakarai and Kalkuda interacted with the students in the Polonnaruwa and Kalutara districts during this familiarisation programme.

Highlighting the importance of national integrity for a country’s development, Minister Jayasuriya recalled the collective efforts by our forefathers to gain independence from British york. But the mutual understanding that prevailed among the people of different communities in the country is no more now.

“Sound education lays firm foundation for an united nation. We have to start it at school level, Jayasuriya said.

The certificates for the participants were distributed by the Minister Jayasuriya.
