Rural hospital facilities to be improved

“We have improved the facilities of rural hospitals in Wayamba. Our
intention is to create a sound health policy in the country,” said
Provincial Minister of Health and Indigenous Medicine Neranjan
Wickremasinghe at Madawala Rajamaha Viharaya, Alawwa recently.
The Provincial Councils Minister was participating at a free medical
clinic held at Madawala Rajamaha Viharaya.
The Minister said the Wayamba PC has allocated Rs. 30 million for the
healthcare facilities of Alawwa, Dambadeniya and Narammala hospitals in
Dambadeniya electorate.
The District Medical Officer of Kurunegala was playing a key role in
this programme with the co-operation of the Wayamba Provincial Council.
He said the PC has allocated funds for the construction of a
maternity ward at Dambadeniya hospital with necessary equipment, and the
areas such as Nikaweratiya, Galgamuwa and Giribawa has been identified
as divisions where renal patients are rampant.
He said under the Mahinda Chintana programme it has decided to
provide medical and healthcare resources valued at Rs. 5 million for the
use of the Renal Disease Prevention campaign in the North Western
Province.

Member Shantha Bandara also spoke. |
