Pakistan Independence Day celebrations
Pakistan High Commission along with Sri Lanka and the Pakistani
community will celebrate Pakistan Independence Day on August 14.
The day will be marked with a flag hoisting ceremony at 9.30 a.m. at
the High Commission premises No. 53/6, 59/5, Gregory’s Road, Colombo 07.
Lecture
Secretary, Ministry of Trade Dr. R.M.K. Rathnayaka will give a Public
Lecture on “A Food Security Strategy for Sri Lanka” at 5 p.m. on August
14 at the SLAAS Auditorium 120/10, Vidya Mawatha (Off Wijerama Mawatha),
Colombo 07.
Krishnamurti talk
A recorded public talk on “The action with no past or future”
delivered by J. Krishnamurti will be replayed at the Public Library
Auditorium, Colombo 7 at 10.30 a.m. on August 17.
The event is organised by the Krishnamurti Centre, Sri Lankan Inc.
Three new books of E.M.D. Upali
Three new Sinhala books authored by E.M.D. Upali a playwright named
Laya Wirekaya (The Confession) a novel, Karthru Akgnatai (Author is
unknown) a collection of poems and Bonikkige Sellam Ge (A Doll’s House)
Sinhala version of said play will be launched on August 15 at 3.00 p.m.
at the Sri Lanka National Library Services and Documentation Board
Auditorium at Torrington Avenue, Colombo 7.
The keynote address will be delivered by Prof. Sucharitha Gamlath and
chaired by Dr. Praneeth Abayasundara.
