Aquarium equipment for Polonnaruwa
The Sri Lanka Export Development Board and the National Chamber of
Commerce distributed aquarium fish farm equipment valued Rs. 2.5m to 50
selected aquarium farmers in the District recently to make Polonnaruwa
the hub of aquarium fish export of Sri Lanka.
The event was organised by the Polonnaruwa District Aquarium Fish
Growers Association at the National Aquatic Development Authority,
Polonnaruwa.
These beneficiary farmers were selected from the AGA Divisions of
Thamankaduwa, Dimbulagala, Elahera, Hingurakgoda and Medirigiriya.
The funds for the equipment were provided by the Export Development
Board and the National Chamber of Commerce through the business
promotion funds received from the Netherland Government.
Among the aquarium fish farming equipment distributed were 85 per
cent shading nets, 15 per cent shading nets, water pumps needed for fish
farming, air blowers, and pond covering nets.
The ceremony was attended by Regional Aquaculture Officer Polonnaruwa,
J. D. Chandradasa, Project Director, National Chamber of Commerce, Y.
Pathirage, Business Development Executive, National Chamber of Commerce
