Aviva’s CSR rated ‘above average’
Aviva’s CSR programme was recently reviewed by Vigeo, ratings agency
that assesses companies and organisations on their CSR performance and
management.
Vigeo evaluates the level of commitment shown towards CSR goals,
identifies any risks incurred by the company and evaluates its level of
management. Vigeo provides the information gathered to SRI analysts,
investors and asset managers.
Its analysis is divided into six categories: human resources,
environment, business behaviour, corporate governance, community
involvement and human rights. Aviva was awarded “above sector average”
scores in all categories except human resources, which was in line with
the sector average.
Aviva performed particularly well in the human rights and business
behaviour categories, but recognises that there is always room for
improvement in all areas.
Vigeo recognised Aviva as being particularly strong in its approach
to equity asset management and in the development of products with added
social value.
To further improve results in subsequent reviews Aviva has been
advised to consider offering a more diversified group of “green
products”.
Group CSR consultant, Simi Shasanya, said: “We are pleased to be
recognised by Vigeo for our continuous improvement and will consider
their suggestions going forward as we recognise the importance of the
information which is held by investors on Aviva.” |
