Elephant runs amok, kills woman

colombo: One woman was killed and 32 others were injured when an elephant ran amok after the Thalagolla perahera in Ragama.

According to Police spokesman SSP

Ranjith Gunasekera , over 10,000 people have gathered at Ragama to witness the annual Thalagolla perahera parading the streets. The crowed gathered at the Thalagolla Devalaya ran helter skelter when the elephant developed an abnormal behaviour causing stampede. The injured are receiving treatment at the Colombo North Hospital Ragama.
