Student nabbed for alleged Tiger links

A final year student of the Peradeniya University who allegedly had contacts with the LTTE has been arrested by a special Police team along with 12 mobile phone connections (SIM cards), Police sources told the Daily News.

Police suspect the student had close contacts with a person living in the Pundalu Oya area and has provided vital information to the LTTE from Kandy.

Twelve SIM cards from various mobile telecommunication services were also seized along with this student.

Investigations has revealed that some of these mobile phone connections belonged to a female from Jaffna.

Police investigations also revealed that the suspect has found places of lodging for suspected LTTE cadres in the Kandy area.
