Govt. spends heavily on education despite war - Minister

The Government has spent heavily on the development of the education
sector for it to be on a par with other sectors with the intention of
making an educated and matured society, Resettlement and Disaster Relief
Services Minister Rishad Badiudeen said.
He said the Mahinda Chinthana has been formulated aiming not only at
livelihood development but also targeting spiritual development of the
masses.
Minister Badiudeen was speaking after opening a newly constructed
building at Chilaw Nazriya Muslim Central College. He said the
Government has drawn several productive plans to develop the education
sector to achieve that goal.
Badiudeen said due to the Government's move to develop the education
sector the percentage of students qualifying for university entrance is
continuously increasing.
All must be thankful to President Mahinda Rajapaksa for spending
hugely on social welfare, education, development and rural livelihood
development at a time a massive amount of funds is needed to supress
terrorism, Minister Badiudeen added.
He said under the Mahinda Chinthana all development activities
including community welfare is going on uninterrupted. |
