Lanka lose to Myanmar 3-1
Sri Lankan soccerites bowed out of the semi-final of the AFC
challenge cup championship when they went down to Myanmar three goals to
one in their second game of the tourney.
On Thursday Lankans lost to North Korea but were in a position to
make it to the semis with two wins in the following games, but with loss
they had on Saturday washed away their hopes.
Though Lankan skipper Chathura Maduranga was expected to take the
field he could not do so until the second half of the game. The first
session of play was evenly contested and this session ended with a blank
score card.
In the second half Myanmar got ahead but in few minutes Lanka
equalised through a goal from main striker Kasun Jayasuriya.
Myanmaris went on the attack and formed good results when they netted
in two more goals to seal victory and also to send Sri Lanka out of the
tourney.
Sri Lanka play their last game today against Nepal at the same venue.
