Magsaysay Award for Lankan

MANILA: Sri Lanka's Ananda Galapatti has been awarded the prestigious Ramon Magsaysay award in the Emergent Leadership category.

The citation read that he received the honour for "his spirited personal commitment to bring appropriate and effective psychosocial services to victims of war trauma and natural disasters in Sri Lanka".

As co-founder of the International Journal of Mental Health, Psychosocial Work and Counselling in Areas of Armed Conflict, the War Trauma Foundation, Galapatti lobbied for better psychosocial services in tsunami-hit Sri Lanka, it said.
