ILO workshop
The International Labour Organization in collaboration with the
Government is organising a workshop from 6 to 8 August at the Mount
Lavinia Hotel, for the promotion of the MLC and possible ratification
ensuring decent work standards for all seafarers.
The 94th session of the International Labour Conference (February
2006) adopted the Maritime Labour Convention, 2006 consolidating over 65
international maritime labour instruments adopted since 1920.
This was the culmination of over five years of preparatory work,
which had started with the "Geneva Accord", a historic decision of the
ILO's Joint Maritime Commission in 2001.
The workshop will be facilitated by Ms Cleopetra Doumbia-Henry
Director, International Labour Standards Department, ILO Geneva and Dani
Appave, Senior Maritime Specialist, ILO Geneva. |
