Sri Lanka TT juniors bag 4 'Silver'

Sri Lanka juniors bagged four silver medals in the team championships
on the opening day of the ongoing South Asian Junior Table Tennis
Tournament when they won both the under 18 and under 15 team second
places in boys and girls sections which began at Toyota Indoor Gymnasium
at Habib Public School, Karachi, Pakistan on Wednesday.
In all four finals Sri Lanka went down to favourites India.
Host Pakistan had the consolation of taking third positions in boys
under 18 and girls and boys cadet under 15 events. The home country
finished fourth in girls under 18 team championships.
The individual and doubles events in all the four categories will be
played today. Final positions in the team championship are:
Girls under-15: 1 India, 2 Sri Lanka, 3 Pakistan, 4 Nepal.
Boys under-15: 1 India, 2 Sri Lanka, 3 Pakistan, 4 Nepal.
Girls under 18: 1 India, 2 Sri Lanka, 3 Nepal, 4 Pakistan.
Boys 18: 1 India, 2 Sri Lanka, 3 Pakistan, 4 Nepal.
The 12 member team left for Pakistan on Sunday. Buddhika Walagampola,
Sahanaka Ganegoda and Sukitha Wickramanayake were the members of the
boys under 18 runner up team. Led by Ishara Madurangi, Tharindra
Weerakoon, and Pavithra Gimhani were the members who ended runner up in
under 18 girls.
Runners up under 15 boys- Hashintha Sashiranga, Malith Dilusha,
Prabodhana Rodrigo.
Runners up under 15 girls- Erandi Warusavithana, Chavindya de Silva,
Nuwani Nawodya. |
