Assault on ITN journalist: Matter before Court

Media and Information Minister Anura Priyadarshana Yapa told Parliament yesterday that the issue regarding the assaulting on two ITN journalists inside Sirikotha has been taken up before Courts and Courts will take the necessary steps in this regard.

The Minister said he tried to question the UNP in Parliament yesterday about assault of two ITN journalists inside Sirikotha which always blames the Government on the issue of media freedom.

The Minister made this observation in reply to a special statement by UNP MP Tissa Attanayake.
