No attempt to release Gajanayake - Government

Mass Media and Information Minister Anura Priyadarshana Yapa yesterday told Parliament that the Government has no need to release Nishantha Gajanayake who is indicted before the High Court.

Even the Security Forces have not attempted to do so, he said.

Minister Yapa said that matter is directed before Court and the Government has nothing to do with it.

The Minister said Gajanayake was taken into custody by the Government and was indicted before the Court by the Government.He made this observation in reply to a question raised by UNP MP Lakshman Seneviratne.
