Forces destroy more Tiger bunkers

The Security Forces engaged clearing operation in Mullaitivu jungle captured three highly fortified LTTE bunkers and three trenches on Monday morning, Military spokesman Udaya Nanayakkara said.

The Army’s 59 division advancing on Mullaitivu had come across an LTTE strong position north of Janakapura on Monday around 9.30 a.m. and launched a heavy attack against the highly fortified Tiger target. “The LTTE strong position was located 10km inside the Mullaitivu jungle north of Janakapura,” Brigadier Nanayakkara said.

The Army captured three LTTE bunkers and three trenches constructed inside the jungle. “LTTE communications revealed that a Tiger cadre was killed and four others injured in the heavy fighting,” he added.
