The members of Maha Sangha will conduct a special spiritual
invocation on July 12 opposite the Dalada Maligawa in Kandy to invoke
their blessings on the nation and the country.
Ven. Maduluwawe Sobhitha thera and Ven. Pitiduwe Siridhamma Thera
yesterday announced at press conference at the BMICH, that they have
arranged a special invocation Jathika-adhishthanaya to send forth their
blessings to protect the country from all ills.
Ven. Uduwe Dhammaloka Thera said the Mahanayake Theras of Asgiri,
Malwathu and Amarapura Chapters will participate in the programme.
“Thousands of Buddhist monks are expected to convene from all
quarters of the country at Maligawa to give out their blessings to the
nation on this occasion,” he said.
Ven. Dhammaloka Thera said they discussed among the Sangha community
how important and beneficial it would be to bless the people at the time
where everything including the environment appear to have gone out of
sorts, with flood situations in some areas and drought in others and
many more.
Ven. Madulkuwawe Sobhitha Thera said the Bhikkhus have presented
themselves to protect this country and its nation in times of trouble
throughout the history. “And this will be no exception,” he said.
”We aspire by virtue of the ,Buddha’s relics at Dalada Maligawa, by
virtue of Sri Maha Bodhi , the Dhamma and Sangha that our motherland and
its people may be relieved of all its ills.
“Jathika-adhishthanaya” is based on spiritually soothing the country
and there will be no political agendas attached to it, the monks said. |
