ITN reporters threatened at Sirikotha

Two reporters attached to the Independent Television Network (ITN) have been allegedly threatened by the security guards at the UNP headquarters Sirikotha.

ITN sources said, the two provincial reporters, Thilak Weerasinghe and Suneth Hewavitharana were threatened by Sirikotha guards while filming scenes of traffic congestion yesterday evening at Pitakotte junction.

They were reported to have been taken to Sirikotha premises by force, where they were held for about an hour by the security guards the sources said.

Several UNP MPs are reported to have threatened the reporters while they were held at Sirikotha.

There were others too who have verbally abused them.

Police took action to get the two reporters released from Sirikotha.
