A’pura Dalada Perahera

The Anuradhapura Dalada Perahera will be held on July 16 and 17 under the patronage of Atamasthanadhipati Ven. Dr. Pallegama Siriniwasa, Chief Sanghanayaka Thera and directions of former North Central Province Chief Minister Berty Premalal Dissanayake.

The Perahera will start off from the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi premises on July 16 and proceed to the Abhayagiri Viharaya premises. On July 17, it will start off from Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi premises and proceed along Anuradhapura Market area, Bank area, Police roundabout and return to the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi. The event will be telecast live on ITN.


Get-together

The annual get-together of the Old Anandians Century Group will be held at the Holiday Inn, Colombo on July 12.

The organisers invite old boys who were in school between 1986 and 1988.


Dialogue For Young Professionals

A dialogue for Young Professionals on the topic “Success through Inner Silence” will be held on Tuesday July 8 from 5.30 p.m. at the Brahma Kumaris Raja yoga Centre, 74, Davidson Road, Bambalapitiya.

Help Hasitha and Chamara

R.D. Hasitha Lakshan Rajapaksa and R.D. Chamara Dilshan Rajapaksa two children of Sri Lanka Army Corporal R.A.D. Rajapakse who is on active duty in the East attached to the Trincomalee army camp are suffering from speech and hearing impairment from birth. Consultant ENT Surgeon Dr. Devananda Jha has recommended a Cochlear Implant surgery for both to cure them.

Each surgery is estimated to cost around Rs. 1,600,000 to Rs. 2,800,000 depending on the model of the Cochlear Implant used. Corporal Rajapakse says he is unable to foot this bill due to his present financial plight as he has to look after his daughter too who is suffering from hearing disability due to a recent illness.

He requests philanthropists and the public to assist his two children's cause by sending whatever financial contributions possible to help expedite the surgery.

All contributions should be remitted to Account Number 058-2-001-4-5797103 at the People's Bank, Mahiyangana branch.


Sambra needs your help

Baby Fathima Sambra of 115/A, Galloluwa New Road, Minuwangoda is a heart patient.

She needs to undergo implant surgery in Chennai Miot Hospital. The implant which have to be purchased by the patient will cost them Rs. 600,000. The family of baby Sambra cannot afford this. They seek the help of all kind donors.
