'Young Musician of the Year'
The Institute of Western Music and Speech which organises events
annually to encourage nurture and highlight the talents of our Lankan
children organised an event to provide an opportunity for children to
display their skills in pianoforte and strings.
There were three categories for Piano-Junior, Intermediate and
Senior, and two categories for Violin-Junior and Senior.
The semi-finals were worked out on June 14 at the Institute of
Western Music & Speech auditorium and the grand finale will be held on
July 13 Sunday at the Russian Centre, No. 10, Independence Avenue,
Colombo 7 at 5 p.m.
Tickets are available at the Institute of Western Music & Speech at
No. 12, Kotalawela Gardens, Colombo 4 during office hours from 8.00 a.m.
to 4.00 p.m.
The winners of each category will receive a trophy and a cash award.
There will be a special award presented to the "Young Musician of the
year - 2008" who will be the Most Outstanding Performer of the evening.
