NFF’s maiden rally today

COLOMBO: The National Freedom Front led by dissident JVP heavyweight and MP Wimal Weerawansa will hold their maiden rally today.

MP Weerawansa, the President of the Front( Jathika Nidahas Peramuna) will address the rally, which will take place at Ananda Samarakoon Open Air Theatre from 3 pm.

The General Secretary of the National Freedom Front Nandana Gunatilleke, National Organiser Kamal Deshapriya Mannapperuma and several others will speak.

Spokesman Mohammed Muzzamil of the Front said they are looking forward to disclose many unknown details that led to the dispute between them and the JVP at this rally. “We are a party which will go beyond “criticism” in order to find practical solutions to problems faced by the people,” he said.

Asked if they had to say anything about the current behaviour of their former party, Muzzamil said, “We were surprised to see how the JVP has lined up with the UNP.”

“The situation is unbelievable - what the UNP says against the government in the morning, the JVP repeats in the evening,” he said.

He said they will speak on the current political situation of the country.
