A-World for one-stop shopping

A-World, Welisara offers a one-stop shopping experience to the young, the old, the brand loyal customer and even to the bargain shopper under one roof. A-World is the latest business venture of A- Mart (Pvt) Ltd, which is a member of the Abans Group.

Operating with the concept of ‘Big Brands - Bigger Savings’, A-World ensures total customer satisfaction by providing authentic local and international branded products at approachable rates. The floor space of the store spreads across 55,000 sq ft, and is conveniently situated adjoining Welisara McDonalds.

The store offers a range of goods that varies from clothes to cars. A-World’s product array further includes electronics, home appliances, shoes, computers, laptops, mobile phones, sanitaryware, motorcycles, toys, costume jewellery, perfumes, cosmetics, ornaments, handicrafts and many more.

A-World works in partnership with some of the world’s most celebrated brands such as Van Huesen, Louis Phillipe, Allen Solly, Peter England, Lee, Wrangler, Puma, Disney and a host of other renowned names in the apparel industry. A-World is one of the finest place to visit, for ladies and gents designer wear, sarees, lingerie or sportswear.

Vendors such as Exclusive Lines, Triumph International, Stone ‘N’ String, Reebok and Emerald have presently located their outlets within the premises of A-World, so that customers can quit time-consuming shopping episodes and enjoy the relaxed ‘shop and shop’ experience.

Weekend promotions with interesting offers and discounts regularly attract large crowds that fill up the floors at A-World.

“We have found that there is a good potential for promoting our department store among foreign tourists and many more real, authentic products have been made available in our store to attract foreign tourists.”

A-World Chief Operating Officer Kumara Tennakoon said. A- World, he said, has proven to be a popular tourist destination from December to April. According to Tennakoon, since the opening of the store last year its monthly turnover has uninterruptedly increased by 20 per cent per month.

He added that the unique shopping experience at A-World becomes all the more significant because the concept of ‘leisure shopping’ has been applied in a realistic sense.

Speaking of expansion plans for A-World, Tennakoon mentioned that three more similar department stores will be opened in Colombo and the suburbs by the end of this year, to enable wider reach and ensure improved convenience for customers.
