Dedication key to development - Southern Governor

Dedication and determination are key to usher national development
and these qualities should be embedded in everybody's minds, said
Southern Province Governor Kumari Balasuriya.
The Governor was addressing the prize giving of Olcott Maha Vidyalaya,
Galle. The ceremony was held at the newly built auditorium by Mass
Holdings company.
She said parents are taking immense efforts to send their children to
better schools.
Sinhalese and Muslim students are studying together in this school.
They have set an example to the fellow students and citizens of this
country, the governor said.
She said "that if a teacher says a particular child cannot learn it
is wrong.
"Teachers and parents must take a concerted effort to guide the
children on the correct path.
Former Governor Deshamanya Neville Kanakarathne was committed to the
educational uplift of the Province she said.
The Children should be tough to acquire qualities like love and
affection, mercy, patience and honesty". "Knowledge is gained through
education, and what is understood through experience is also an
education, she said.
Zonal Education Director K. A. Jayasekara said the schools are for
the students not for the teachers.
Teachers should treat and care all children as their own.
Survival of a school depends on its quality educational standard, she
