Yasodara-Visakha clash in under 15 hockey final

Yasodara Girls' College, Colombo will be up against Visakha Vidyalaya in the final of the Under 15 Colombo Schools Hockey Tournament for girls which will be held on June 15 at Astro Turf, Reid Avenue, Colombo.

The much awaited boys finals of the same tournament between Ananda College and Royal College will be played on the same day at Astro turf.

The championships is organised by the Colombo Schools Hockey Committee. Ananda College beat their arch rivals Nalanda College 1-0 while Royal College defeated Isipathana College comprehensively by a margin of three goals to nil to enter the final. Yasodara girls beat Musaeus College by 2 goals to nil while Visakha Vidyalaya beat President's College, Nawala by 1 goal to nil in the girls' semi finals.

The all semi final teams along with St. Benedict's College Kotahena and President's Girls' School, Nawala have been drawn into the All Island Under 15 Hockey Tournament for Boys and Girls as Colombo district teams.

The All Island Under 15 Hockey Tournament for Boys and Girls have postponed for June 19 and will come to an end on June 21 at Astro Turf, Reid Avenue, Colombo.

This tournament is a highly anticipated event in the Sri Lanka Schools Hockey Calendar conducted by the Sri Lanka Schools Hockey Association with the Colombo Schools Hockey Committee. Singer `Sisil' a pioneer promoter in the game have come forward to sponsor this event.

The Kandy and Colombo districts will field the biggest contingent of teams with 10 teams each for each district with five boys teams and five girls teams. The average for other districts are four teams. These teams have been picked after the selection tournaments held in their respective districts by their hockey committees recently.
