Captain held for assaulting policeman

An Army Captain was arrested for assaulting a Police Inspector attached to Meerigama police while on duty on Wednesday evening, police spokesman SSP Ranjith Gunasekera said.

IP Milla Withanachchi controlling traffic in the Pohonaruwa area, Meerigama was assaulted by the Army Captain on Wednesday around 8.30 p.m. "It is believed that the Army Captain was under the influence of liquor and was charged for speeding," SSP Gunasekera said.
