'No War Zone' bags award

Young Asia Television received a Special Mention Award for the weekly series 'No War Zone' at the National Media Awards Ceremony 2006, organised by the Mass Media and Information Ministry at the BMICH in Colombo on May 16, 2008.

Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickramanayaka was the Chief Guest at this inaugural National Media Awards ceremony where 21 journalists were recognised for their contribution to the media in Sri Lanka.

Young Asia Television's Chief Executive Officer Hilmy Ahamed who accepted the award on behalf of Sharmini Boyle for the YATV production, 'No War Zone' said: "Peace is the need of the hour for us all in Sri Lanka and we are honoured that YATV's media intervention to promote and support peace has been recognised with a National Media Award."
