Daily News readers to pick Seven Wonders of Sri Lanka
'Seven Wonders of Sri Lanka', a contest to pick the seven most
popular places in the country will be launched by the 'Daily News'
today.
The contest which is open only to Daily News readers, features a
large number of prizes worth over Rs. three million in addition to
prizes to be distributed in weekly draws.
Readers can take part in the contest by sending in the seven places
in Sri Lanka they consider to be the Seven Greatest Wonders (in the
order of their preference), written on coupons published in the Daily
News from today.
The seven wonders voted for by the majority of readers will be
declared the Seven Wonders of Sri Lanka, and the readers whose coupons
get these Seven Wonders in correct order will receive the prizes.
The competition is held in association with Abans Ltd and Sri Lanka
Tourism. Abans will sponsor the first 10 prizes of the 'Seven Wonders of
Sri Lanka' competition including the top three prizes. Among the prizes
offered by the Sri Lanka Tourist Board are complimentary stays at
classified Sri Lankan hotels for three winners of each weekly draw and a
'Seven Wonders of Sri Lanka Tour' for 30 winners at the final draw and
their spouses.
The first prize of the contest 'Seven Wonders of Sri Lanka' will be a
full option Geely car worth Rs. two million while other prizes from LG/Abans
include an LCD Television, a Piaggio motorcycle, Elba electric cooker,
fully-auto washing machine, double-door refrigerator, colour television,
home theatre system, microwave oven and DVD player. Sri Lanka Tourism is
also supporting this contest.
Arrangements have also been made to hold weekly draws in addition to
the mega draw, to give away mobile phones to participants of the
contest.
