Where too many cooks won't spoil the broth!

The top executive chefs of the Colombo hotels will pull out all stops for Gravitas 2008 (the Hoteliers' Ball) on 31 May at the Grand Ballroom, Water's Edge.

Chef Srijith Dolage, Executive Pastry Chef, Waters Edge, Chef Rohan Fernandopulle, Executive Chef, Hilton Colombo, Chef Anthony Gibson, Executive Chef, Waters Edge, Chef Gerard Mendis, Chairman, Chefs' Guild of Sri Lanka/Executive Pastry Chef, Hilton Colombo, Chef Morugama, Executive Chef, Cinnamon Grand, Colombo, Chef Ralf Vogt, Director - Kitchens, Mount Lavinia Group and Chef Haleesha Weerasinghe, Executive Chef, Galle Face Hotel will join forces to create an astounding, eye-catching and mouth-watering feast for the guests at the event.

Commenting on the occasion, Chef Ralf Vogt said, "This is a wonderful opportunity for all the finest chefs in Colombo to work together in co-operation to bring to the table the best of the best in trans-ethnic cuisine."

"It is such a joy to be able to collaborate with people I would normally be in competition with, and I know each one of us will benefit enormously from the knowledge and experience of the others, which in turn will benefit all of our respective hotels. To work together in one spirit in unity will result in a truly delicious culinary experience for all the guests attending this prestigious event at the Waters Edge and I am really looking forward to taking part in this unique occasion."

Chef Gerard Mendis commented, "For the first time ever, the elite chefs of Colombo have banded together, combining their skills to give you an unforgettable dining experience. These culinary professionals showcasing their knowledge and expertise have created an environment of friendship and harmony amongst those we believed to be our competitors."

The menu will include an international tapas bar, Nippon-Lankan show cooking, Australian spit roast, an Arabian corner, mouth-watering signature desserts and handmade chocolates. Chef Anthony Gibson and Chef Srijith Dolage of Waters Edge said, "This is one occasion where the saying 'too many cooks spoil the soup' is proven wrong. It will be a culinary experience to remember - both for you and us."

Organised by the Ceylon Hotel School's Graduates Association (CHSGA), Gravitas 2008 promises to be outstanding in that it will feature the cream of the industry, both locally and internationally, making it an unforgettable night!
